Technicians should vacuum the seats, floor, rear deck, trunk, and cargo space. On hatchbacks, SUVs, and trucks, glass may also fall inside the liftgate or tailgate. Fragments trapped within a body panel can create rattling sounds while driving or when closing the trunk.

Reaching every hidden piece may require removing or accessing interior trim. A careful cleanup reduces the chance of glass remaining in areas frequently used by passengers.

Drivers should also conduct a final inspection before allowing children or pets into the back of the vehicle. Check areas such as:

Cabin pressure can also place stress on a new rear seal. Keeping one or both front windows open about an inch during the first 24 hours can help reduce pressure when doors are closed. The trunk, doors, and hatch should also be shut gently.

High-pressure water may disturb fresh molding or force moisture against urethane that has not fully cured. Automatic car washes should generally be avoided for at least 72 hours, or for the period specified by the installer.
